Vierzehn Tage für vier Freunde in der Trockenzeit: zwei ruhige Tage im Heiligen Tal, um sich an die Höhe zu gewöhnen, fünf Tage auf dem Salkantay-Trail mit Nächten unter Glas unterhalb des Gletschers, am Ende Machu Picchu, der gestreifte Grat von Pallay Punchu auf dem Weg nach Süden und eine Nacht bei einer Uro-Familie auf dem Titicacasee. Entstanden aus der Reise unserer Freunde Cami und Matteo im Juli 2026.
Tag 1 · Das Heilige Tal
Anreise
Über Lima nach Cusco, dann bringt euch ein Fahrer direkt hinunter ins Heilige Tal, etwa anderthalb Stunden: So verbringt ihr die ersten Nächte auf rund 2'870 Metern statt auf den 3'400 von Cusco.
Höhe, Schritt für Schritt
Das Heilige Tal liegt auf rund 2'870 Metern, Cusco auf 3'400, der Salkantay-Pass auf 4'630 und Pallay Punchu auf rund 4'700. Zuerst tief schlafen und langsam steigen ist der beste Schutz vor der Höhenkrankheit.

Tag 2 · Das Heilige Tal
Die Tour
Salineras Ranch, Pichingoto: eine familiengeführte, aktive Ranch unterhalb der Salinen, mit fünf Stunden im Sattel hinauf an den Salzminen von Maras vorbei, über die Hochebene ins Dorf Maras und weiter nach Moray.

Unterwegs
Moray: die Inka-Terrassen, in grossen Ringen in einer natürlichen Senke angelegt, vermutlich ein landwirtschaftliches Versuchsfeld.

Day 3 · Cusco
On the way
Chinchero: a village of weavers on the high plain, with an Inca site and a colonial church, where the women dye and weave the wool in front of you.
Where you're staying
Antigua Casona San Blas: a family-owned boutique hotel in an old house in San Blas, the artists' quarter, a hundred metres from its church, with fireplaces in the patio and a small spa.
Dinner
Cicciolina: a lively first-floor restaurant and tapas bar near the main square, one of the Cusco favourites in our friends' guide.
Day 4 · Cusco
The day
Qorikancha, the Inca temple of the sun under a Dominican convent, then a slow walk up to the giant stone walls of Sacsayhuamán above the city.
Lunch
San Pedro market: fresh juices and a set lunch at the counters among the stalls.
Dinner
Chicha, Plaza Regocijo: Gastón Acurio's Cusco restaurant, Andean dishes cooked in a modern way. An early night: the trek starts at 04:00.

Humantay-Lagune: ein türkiser See unter dem Eis des Nevado Humantay, am Nachmittag anderthalb Stunden Aufstieg über dem Camp.

Tag 2
Der Salkantay-Pass, 4'630 Meter: der härteste Tag, im Zickzack hinauf unter dem Salkantay-Gletscher, dann hinunter zu den Kuppeln, wo der Himmel der Trockenzeit voller Sterne ist.

Tag 5
Machu Picchu, zur Öffnungszeit, nach vier Tagen zu Fuss dorthin. Dann mit dem Zug talabwärts nach Ollantaytambo und auf der Strasse zurück nach Cusco.

Tickets für Machu Picchu
Tickets gibt es nur auf der Website des Kulturministeriums, für eine feste Route und eine feste Uhrzeit, und die Hochsaison beginnt Mitte Juni. Kauft sie, sobald die Daten feststehen: Die beliebten Routen sind Monate im Voraus weg.
Day 10 · Cusco
The day
A late breakfast, a massage, the lanes of San Blas and its workshops, and an early night: the road south starts before dawn.
Day 11 · Pallay Punchu
The day
Pallay Punchu, above the village of Layo: a sharp ridge of rock striped in red, ochre and green, a short, steep walk of an hour or two, with the great lake of Langui Layo below.

Casa Andina Premium Puno: a hotel on the lakeshore with its own pier and a restaurant behind a wall of glass over Lake Titicaca.
Day 12 · Lake Titicaca
Where you're staying
Titicaca Sariri Lodge, on the Uros floating islands: a family home of reeds on the lake, with rooms facing the water, and dinner cooked by the family.
Day 13 · Taquile
The day
Taquile: a hilly island of terraces and stone arches, where the men knit and the textile tradition is on UNESCO's list of intangible heritage. Lunch with a family, then the boat back to Puno.

A last night at Casa Andina Premium Puno, by the lake.
Day 14 · Home
Getting home
Juliaca airport is about an hour from Puno, with daily flights to Lima for the connection to Europe.
